TECHNIQUES
PANNING
Following a moving subject with the camera, making it sharper than the background. This can be done using a tripod or a hand held camera.
ZOOM BLUR
Moving the focal length of a zoom lens during exposure, getting a different effect of light from this; combining panning and zoom blur.
ABSTRACT MOVEMENT
Using very long exposures to render subjects, colour and effects totally abstract and random for interesting and unpredictable results.
'OPEN FLASH'
Mixing long ambient exposures with flash for producing blur movement with a sharp flash capture of the near subject.
HDR Exposures
'High Definition Range' is a professional technique for maximising tonal and contrast range of subjects with a number of different exposures that can be merged using Adobe Photoshop.
NB:
Please bring any wide angle lenses, tripods and flash that you have and would lke to use. Also be aware of weather conditons and dress accordingly. Workshops will not be cancelled due to rain, especially as the effect of wet surfaces is very effective.
