THE COLOUR OF NIGHT
Evening Workshop (Saturdays, 9pm - 12am)
2009: June 28, July 26, August 23
Piccadily Circus
£75.00

This exciting and unusual workshop explores the spontaneous and unpredictable world of night photography in the centre of London's west end. Working with a range of subjects exposures and exercises, on a leisurely walk from Piccadily Circus through Tragalgar Square to the houses of Parliament, you can enjoy a night tour of some of London's most famous landmarks, while learning a range of techniques for making dramatic and colourful night time images.

Abandoning all expectation of sharp, correctly exposed and accurately coloured photographs, we work with the flexible and dramatic techniqes of panning, zoom blur, abstract motion and very long exposures, both hand held and with a tripod. This work is very exciting in the unpredictable nature of the results you will achieve, and the spontaneous choice of images is made from the colours, views and moving subjects that we find.

The group meets outside Piccadily tube at 8pm, and after finding ways to interpret the famous advertising signs of the Circus, we move gradually through Trafalgar Square to end at Parliament Square, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Along the way, we practice simple techinques that you can enjoy and use in any night time environment.

This is a very exciting and compelling way of making pictures, and the workshop provides all the ingredients of a totally enjoyable evening out. Come with some friends, have a thrilling experience, and leave with some very unusual photos from a unique event that you will always remember!
